2018 CCLA Gala FAQs
December 3, 2018

What is the CCLA Annual Christmas Gala Gala?
CCLA’s annual Christmas Gala, affectionately known as the “Black Lawyers Ball”, is our signature fundraising event to support our scholarship effort. The gala consists of a fun-filled evening of food, music, dancing, and fellowship beginning at 8:00 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support our annual scholarship program which awards tuition, books and/or bar exam preparation assistance to local minority law students based on a combination of need and merit. We will be accepting donations to the scholarship fund at the check-in table for the gala.
What is the dress code?
The dress code for the event is semi-formal to formal. Although ball gowns and tuxedos are not required, we request your finest fabrics. There will be a coat check available. Please refer to the weather in advance.
Will valet and parking be available?
There will be valet available at the South Salisbury St. entrance to the Sheraton Hotel. Please bring $20.00 cash for the valet. There is additional parking in the parking decks located around the hotel at various rates. Street parking is free in downtown Raleigh after 5P and on the weekends, unless otherwise posted.
Will tickets be on sale at the gala?
Unfortunately, we cannot sell tickets to the gala at the door. We are currently at capacity for the 2018 CCLA Christmas Gala, and we will end ticket purchases on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 5P. We will not have the means to collect payment on the day of the gala. Thank you all for the generous support. We look forward to having everyone there!
Are there additional tables?
We have sold out of VIP tables for the Christmas Gala. We appreciate all of the enthusiastic interest in being a Friend of the Gala. Although all tables have been purchased and will be reserved, there will be additional seating within the main ballroom. You will also be able to find additional soft seating in the “Lowkey Lounge” located beyond the check-in table.
What is the food and beverage service?
There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres served at the Gala from 9-11P, behind the check-in table. You will be able to utilize the various cash bars in both the check-in area and main ballroom. In order to provide you with faster service, the Sheraton Hotel has requested you bring cash to use at the cash bars. Credit card transactions are accepted but will be slower than normal due to the processing of the payments at the various bars.
Additional Information
Christmas is a special time of year for children as they await Santa’s gift. Unfortunately, not all children get to experience the joy of receiving gifts. Capital City Lawyers Association is partnering with Wake Women Attorneys (WWA) to spread a little Christmas cheer. With the holiday season underway, we are asking that you consider adding an extra name to your Christmas list this year by donating a new, unwrapped toy to representatives of either organization. Donations will be given to local child advocacy organizations.
Date: December 3rd – December 20th, 2018.
What: New, unwrapped toy donations. Please, no stuffed animals.
