About the Black Lawyers Ball
The Black Lawyers Ball is the premier annual gala hosted by the Capital City Lawyers Association (CCLA)—a night dedicated to celebrating excellence, community, and the enduring legacy of Black legal professionals in North Carolina.
Each December, this signature event brings together attorneys, judges, law students, community leaders, and supporters for an unforgettable evening of elegance, empowerment, and impact. More than just a celebration, the Ball serves as a cornerstone of CCLA’s mission to improve the quality of life for our community through service, scholarship, and education.
All proceeds from the Black Lawyers Ball directly support CCLA’s Scholarship Fund and year-round programming, including youth mentorship, professional development, and community service initiatives.
A Celebration of Excellence and Service
Since its inception, the Black Lawyers Ball has become more than a formal gala — it is a reflection of progress and purpose within the legal community. Attendees enjoy an evening filled with fine dining, music, dance, and recognition of individuals who exemplify excellence in law and service.
Each year’s theme offers a unique atmosphere and creative expression of our community’s strength, resilience, and unity. Past themes have included “Night at the Oscars,” “Masquerade,” and “Winter Wonderland.”
Our Mission in Motion
Proceeds from the Black Lawyers Ball support:
- CCLA Scholarships – awarded annually to deserving law students of color.
