CCLA is a local, inclusive, voluntary bar association comprised primarily of attorneys, judges, and elected officials of color in Wake County, North Carolina. CCLA’s mission is to improve the quality of life in our community through education, service, and scholarship. CCLA traditionally awards two scholarships, in the form of a stipend, to deserving law students who demonstrate a commitment to practicing in the Triangle area and using their legal training and skills to benefit low-income and/or traditionally underserved communities. The amount of the scholarship fluctuates based on the funds raised at CCLA’s annual Black Lawyers Ball. The purpose of the summer stipend is to provide financial assistance during the summer, which will: (1) supplement the income of students who have accepted summer employment for which they will not be compensated; and/or (2) pay for expenses related to the July bar examination.

The recipients will consist of the two applicants who best demonstrate a genuine interest in using their legal knowledge and training to assist members of low-income and/or traditionally underserved communities. Recipients will be notified of their selection by telephone. Recipients will be awarded their stipend by mail by June 12, 2026.
