The Capital City Lawyers Association (“CCLA”) is a local, inclusive voluntary bar association comprised primarily of minority attorneys, judges, and elected officials. Established in 1981 in Wake County, NC, the Capital City Lawyers Association (CCLA) continues to make an impact in the legal community. The CCLA mission is to improve the quality of life for the local citizenry, most particularly in underprivileged or under-represented communities through service, scholarship, and education.
Q: Why should I become a dues-paying member?
A: The Capital City Lawyers Association is committed to fulfilling its purpose and mission. CCLA’s goal is to improve the quality of life for the local citizenry, most particularly in underprivileged or under-represented communities through service, scholarship, and education. In order to do this, we often undertake financial burdens. Through the generosity of dues-paying members and donor, we are able to continue reaching for that goal.
As a member it allows you to take part in democratic member participation. As new matters are presented to the general body, as a dues-paying member you have a voice in determining the direction of CCLA. Additionally, you may partake in member-only communications, events, and discounted access to CCLA sponsored-events.
CCLA wants to believe you are also committed to the purpose and mission. We believe economic investment ensures that our members are involved and excited about what’s going on with CCLA.
Q: What is the duration of a membership?
A: CCLA Membership runs for one year. Each year, your membership begins on January 1 and ends on December 31, at which time you may pay the dues for the upcoming year.
Q: When should I pay membership dues so I can take advantage of the full value of a membership?
A: You may pay your membership dues at any time during the current membership year. However, any unpaid dues as of March 1 of the current membership year will be considered a lapse in your membership and you will no longer receive e-mails pertaining to membership and voting matters for members. (e.g. budget allocations, bylaw amendments, etc.).
If you are a new attorney, either you’ve just graduated and/or passed the Bar, or you moved to NC from out of state, you may pay dues at any time after Aug. 1, of the current membership year, and have your dues applied through the following membership year. This does not apply if you allowed your membership to lapse.
Q: How much are membership dues?
A: Membership dues are $70.00 as of July 1, 2017.
Any amount paid over the $70.00 membership dues will be considered a donation to CCLA’s general operating funds or scholarship funds; unless otherwise designated by the donor.
