Dear Members of the Capital City Lawyers Association,
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and patience as we prepare to provide you with excellent programming, events, and opportunities through the end of 2024 and going into 2025.
- Annual Youth Law Day and Black Lawyer’s Ball:
- Youth Law Day: Scheduled for Saturday, September 14th, at 9:00 a.m. in the Wake County Courthouse – this day inspires and educates young minds about the justice system and legal profession. Please click HERE for more information and to sign up as a volunteer.
- Black Lawyer’s Ball: Scheduled for Saturday, December 7th – this event celebrates our community’s accomplishments and fosters camaraderie. Venue expenses have significantly increased in comparison to prior years due to inflation. As such, we intend to open ticket sales in August to ensure the organization can meet its financial obligations with the venue for the December Ball.
- Scholarships:
- We award two scholarships to deserving law students committed to practicing in the Triangle area and using their legal skills to benefit low-income and traditionally underserved communities. Through your continued contributions to the Black Lawyer’s Ball, we are able to continue the practice of lessening the financial burden of law school for diverse law students.
- Professional Development and Networking:
- We provide opportunities for continuing legal education, professional development, and networking to help our members thrive in their legal careers. CCLA will host a general body meeting on Wednesday, August 14 at 12:00 noon in the upper portion of the Big Easy on Fayetteville St. If you are interested in volunteering for a committee, please send an email to raleighblacklawyers@gmail.com and let us know which committee you are interested in.
