Invitation to Judge at Tobacco Road Mock Trial Invitational 2020
September 1, 2020
My name is Lilly Kelemen, and I am contacting you on behalf of Duke University’s Mock Trial team. We are an undergraduate program that fosters the budding legal community and encourages a wide range of students to pursue a career in law. Each year we invite the top college mock trial programs from around the country to compete at a tournament in Durham. This will be the 15th Annual Tobacco Road Invitational, which is usually hosted at the Durham County Courthouse. Due to the pandemic, we are arranging the tournament online over the platform Zoom. We need judges to help out at this tournament, and we would be thrilled if you could volunteer your time.
The tournament will be Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th. Since this year’s tournament will be hosted online, judges may participate from anywhere–including their own homes. Each day comprises two rounds, and each round is about three hours long. We would be extremely grateful if you could judge even just one round. Your legal expertise would guarantee that our competitors receive the best feedback possible and would help shape the next generation of lawyers across the country.
A formal invitation with more information has been attached to this email. Please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/JyAhUzrazNrErL837 if you would like to judge this year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am happy to speak on the phone as well. You can reach me at (440) 954-0492. Furthermore, if you know anyone who might be interested in judging, I would really appreciate their contact information so I may reach out.
Again, on behalf of Duke Mock Trial, we appreciate your time and would love to accommodate your schedule in any way we can. Thank you so much, and please let me know if I could provide any more information for you.
Best,
Lilly Kelemen | Class of 2023
