Share Your Experience: When Justice Isn’t Blind
June 17, 2020
On behalf of A. Parker Dunston
Dear Friends,
As you well know, we are in extremely perilous times as not only black people but also as black attorneys. We are exhausted and may even feel hopeless, but there will be a change, and now is the time to act! It is time that our colleagues learn how racism and microaggressions towards attorneys of color are prevalent, rampant, and unchecked in the legal profession. I plan to write an article and I want your experiences to be front and center. If you feel comfortable and compelled, I invite members and supporters of CCLA to submit anonymous experiences and testimony of blatant racism or microaggressions while working as an attorney of color no later than Sunday, June 21, 2020, by using the link below:
Also, CCLA President, Evin Grant and I will be scheduling a photoshoot in the next several weeks with as many black lawyers as possible wearing “Black Lawyers Matter” shirts. If you’re interested in participating in the photoshoot, please let us know by registering here. If you don’t have a “Black Lawyers Matter” shirt, but would like one, we can put you in contact with a local vendor downtown Raleigh who sells them for $20.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly as well. We look forward to your participation.
Thank you in advance! We are in this together!
