Volunteers Needed for Capital Area Teen Court

April 7, 2022

Capital Area Teen Court (in Wake County) is an alternative sentencing program for first-time youth misdemeanor offenders to have a sentence determined by a jury of their peers.  After the Teen Court plan is successfully completed within the 90 day time limit, the offense is dismissed and will not be located on the youth’s record. The program is based on the philosophy that a young person is likely to be redirected towards a crime free future when their peers and supportive adults are involved in the direction of their Teen Court plan.

Capital Area Teen Court hearings are held every other Tuesday evening in the Wake County Courthouse.  They are constantly looking for volunteers, including mentor attorneys and judges (JD required for both).

I encourage everyone to volunteer. For more information you can visit their website here, where you can also sign up to volunteer: Volunteer – Capital Area Teen Court
